This month I found some really beautiful Agates. I don’t usually buy Agates but some had beautiful crystal clusters and I was really drawn to them.

I’ve spent a lot of time in May and June making mosaic rocks for the Live Oak Festival in San Luis Obispo. Knowing that if I made enough I would have plenty left over for the galleries.
I did a couple of new things during that time. I experimented with colored grout and in most cases loved the results, here are a few samples:

I’m coming off a spiritual retreat in Catalina. It was beautiful weather and a wonderful program. I’m feeling pretty grounded and ready to get to work on my next project.

Tucson gem show
I can’t believe it’s been a month since I’ve returned from Tucson! It was a whirlwind of three days. The mountains were so beautiful with cactus.
Some of the crystals were magnificent.
I’ve finally started listing some of the new semi-precious pieces and bought and have embellished. I am so excited, here is a picture of some of my “booty.”
I had to ship 150 pounds of rocks home and take another 150 pounds in suitcases.
It was quite an undertaking.

I’m planning for my next excursion which will be to Vegas for a glass and bead show. I will be in search of new dichroic glass to use in my hearts.
I will also see Luke Bryan in concert and maybe get in a bit of poker. Woohoo!

This month the Yes Store in Santa Barbara has re-opened and is now staying open all year round. It has been an iconic business in Santa Barbara, but until now only popping up during the Holidays. I’m selling my rocks in the store, so come visit it if you are in the area.
I’m yearning for time at the beach, my usual camping getaway. Because of rain and cold it hasn’t happened for so long. Summer can not come any to soon for me.

Moon Rocks
As the rainy days continue I am daydreaming about the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. I haven’t been in a few years and I’m looking forward to going in February! It’s a place where my imagination can run wild and I’m hoping to get inspiration and of course purchasing beautiful gems to use in my mosaics. Dealers come form all over the world with everything imaginable and it takes days to go through the whole thing. Woohoo!
I will be looking for some different and interesting pillar type stones. Like these I recently made. 9add picture) I used Red Quart, also referred to as Hematoid Quartz, for the first time and love it. It is a stone which inspires strength (who can’t use that!). I have several heart rocks made with it. The purple is Lepidolite and is sometimes called the “lullaby stone”, helps with inner peace. I haven’t been able to find this stone so I’m hoping to find it in Tucson.
In October I filmed my Heart Rock Class. It took hours and hours of filming but I finally have it finished and for sale. I’m offering a free semi-precious rock to anyone buying in January and I would love to have feedback from buyers. I also have kits to accompany the video but you must have your own tools. I am available by phone to all who purchase it for any questions.
And some exciting news, the YES Store in Santa Barbara will be open all year at a great locations on State St. Its a cozy Artists gallery with about 30 local Artists which has been a staple pop up store for many years. This season they decided to stay open and I am very happy to be a participating Artist.
So I will now be in two retail locations, OVA Arts in Ojai and The Yes Store in Santa Barbara.
I love special order so if you have a certain stone or want several items please hit me up, I love to customize my rocks.

I can’t think of anything more I love then scavenging through trade shows or swap meets for interesting treasures to include in a mosaic. I don’t know what it is about old things that I like so much but I do. I very often incorporate old jewelry pieces into my Art.
